![]() ![]() Iron Man is no more, having been killed in Endgame. Xavier, Namor, and Mr. It would be interesting to see which MCU heroes would be a part of the group. Is it possible that the MCU Illuminati project will follow suit, showing a clandestine group of heroes with good intentions fail miserably and cause more problems than they solve? It makes sense why, once Captain America discovered the groups' existence, he tried to have them all arrested for their actions. It should be noted that this wasn't a choice made lightly however at the time.Ĭombine these moments with all of the infighting and clashes between members, and it's hard to view the Illuminati as it stood as anything positive or beneficial to the superhero community at large. Over time, it was revealed that this just prolonged the inevitable destruction of their Earth, meaning there was no need for them to proactively kill the other Earths at all. When the Multiverse was collapsing with Earths colliding into destruction, the Illuminati found a way to controversially destroy other Earths before they collided with their own, thereby saving their Earth and its people (by killing those on another). Their self-righteousness even went so far as to sway Reed Richards to give each member of the Illuminati an Infinity Gem during Infinity Gauntlet after he couldn't use the gems to destroy the gems, which is truly too much power for any one group to have. However, pride, ego, passivity, and differing opinions resulted in a collective inaction on the groups' part, and Civil War went on as it did, with much violence and loss along the way. As the events of the comics' Civil War started to gain traction, Iron Man tried once again to convince the Illuminati to become a government over superheroes in support of superhero registration. Sometimes, their inaction is just as problematic. However, Hulk didn't land where he was supposed to, and ended up coming back to Earth seeking revenge with his own army in World War Hulk. During their imprisonment, the Skrulls observed and gathered data on the heroes, learning how to cloak themselves from detection which they would implement years later during their Secret Invasion, essentially making the attack their fault. After the Incredible Hulk went on a rampage and destroyed nearly all of Las Vegas, the Illuminati decided to shoot Hulk into a space in a rocket, seeing his power as too dangerous with no other means to contain or cure him. When the Illuminati went to the Skrull Empire to warn them against any future attacks against the Earth, they were captured. ![]() Over time, it's hard to disagree with Black Panther ( even though he would later join the gathering of heroes against his better judgement). ![]()
